Who Receives Visits?
All families with a newborn that live in Winnebago County –even if you have other children
Foster and adoptive parents – support is available for all families welcoming a newborn
Families who gave birth, but are not bringing a baby home – whether due to adoption, surrogacy, or loss, a nurse can visit to check on the birthing parent, offer support, and community resource connections.
Why Have A Visit?
Each pregnancy and delivery is different.
The public health nurse will:
Welcome the baby on behalf of the community
Check on health of baby and birthing parent
Assess baby’s development and provide guidance
Assists with building bonds between baby, siblings, and your family
And they will hear your concerns
